REPLAY GAME ALTERATION SHEET

This sheet contains all game alteration data upto the specifed date.
Game improvement data is used to alter various things about programs stored on a REPLAY disk. Usually this is for games, and the data given on this sheet enables the user of REPLAY to, for instance, make the player immortal in that game.. Some programs have to have the data entered before they will run properly.
The data values on this sheet are partly worked out by ourselves, and the rest by REPLAY users who have found out for themselves how REPLAY uses this data. Vine Micros does not give out such information.

We welcome any game alterations sent in by REPLAY users, so long as they are in the standard format, and have been properly tested.
How to enter game alteration data.
For BBC B & B+ users. Master users please refer to user guide.
This example shows how to insert an alteration into the program W.A.R. as shown on this data sheet. The values given are: 02,BC,2C 02,BD,6B
Note that the data is always given in groups of three numbers, in this case there are two groups.
In this example the program is assumed to have been loaded from tape and transferred into a REPLAY file on disk which is labelled 'A'.
You are in the main menu.
Press number '4' to edit a file
Press letter 'A' because we are editing file 'A'.
You are now in the 'Edit file' menu.
Press letter 'A' to alter the program.
The computer asks the question 'Save displayed data file?'
In general you can press 'N' (for 'no'), but if you have altered the screen data, then press 'Y' (for 'yes'), or the data just entered will be lost.
You will now get the prompt 'Data address 1 ?'.
This is asking for the first number in the data value group, which is the
number 02 (this is a hexadecimal number).
So, simply type the number '02' and press the <RETURN> key.
You will now get the prompt 'Data address 2 ?'.
This is asking for the second number in the data value group, which is the number BC (this is a hexadecimal number).
So, simply type the number 'BC' and press the <RETURN> key.
You will now get the prompt 'Data ?'.
This is asking for the third and last number in the data value group,
which is the number 2G (this is a hexadecimal number).
So, simply type the number '2C' and press the <RETURN> key.
The disk drive will then whir as REPLAY alters the program.
The next prompt will be 'Data address 1 ?' again, which now refers to the second group of three values, which are 02,BD,6B. So enter the number '02', and press <RETURN>.
Then the prompt 'Data address 2 ?' will appear. Enter the number 'BD' and press <RETURN>.
Then the prompt 'Data ?' will appear.
Enter the number '6B' and press <RETURN>.
The disk drive will whir and the computer will then return back to the
'Data address 1 ?' prompt, ready for the next group of data values to
be entered. But, since there is no more data, simply press the
<RETURN> key by itself, and you will be returned to the 'Edit file
menu'.
To exit from the 'Edit file' menu simply press the letter 'E'.
The above should explain how to enter the program alteration for the game W.A.R., but the method for other games is exactly the same, except that different data is used, and there might be a different number of data value groups.

To 'undo' a program alteration

......simply enter the alteration data again, this will in effect 'cancel' the
program alteration, leaving the program exactly as it was before.
