Ecolink This zip file contains the User Guide and drivers for Acorn's EcoLink card, a circuit description from Nexus Electronics and a document detailing the interupts used by the drivers from SJ research. The card is used to connect a PC to an Econet network. All documents remain copyright of the orignal owners. There were two types of this card available. One was 6512 based and was released by Acorn, the second was Z80 based and was developed by SJ Research. The two cards shared the same high level drivers, net redirector etc, but the low level driver was different. The drivers need DOS v3.1 to work fully. If a more recent version of DOS is used then there are problems with the redirector (REDIR.EXE) from Microsoft. This exits with the message "Incorrect DOS version". If the ver command is used to set the version returned by DOS, REDIR.EXE still exits with the same message. This is due to a second check in the redirector, which checks for the type of directory structure. This was changed after from DOS v4.0 onwards to accomodate drives with more than 32MB. As the redirector maps the files on the file server to a DOS drive this obviously means a newer version of the Microsoft redirector is needed. There are several newer versions supplied with DOS since version v4.0 but unfortunately I have not had any success in making them work. Apart from the redirection, everything will work in DOS 6.22, or even in a Windows 9x DOS session. The NETCOM program can be used to easily carry out many of the * commands that are available.
