Many thanks for this - it must have been an alternative to Econet/DFS. I have tried again with a DFS disc and read it successfully. Where I failed before I think must have been due to the perennial problem I have had writing DFS discs on PC using FDC which work fine under 1770 DFS but are not understood by 8271 DFS.
