Hi,

Yes it can be taken from a series 7 board.

It is actually an obsolete Intel chip, - no 8271, and was 'out of date' in 1981 when the beeb started! V. expensive then, and its still pricey because its pretty rare! However it never allowed improvements as it could never work in double density.

Should you ever come across a 'free' BBC (say because its completely broken) - then its worth grabbing simply for this chip!
