HCR Electronics EPROM Writer

Hello all,

I've been given a HCR Electronics Eprom writer. I'm new to this and wondered a few things....

Can only certain ROMS be written on to? (I assume this is true and they have to be eproms?)

If 1 is true then.... How do I know a Eprom is an Eprom and not a regular ROM
