Groovy. Someone found a BBC at home and brought it into work. We fired it up and got all nostalgic. Then I just had to find an emu and have a play. Love the site. Lots & lots of cool disc-images to play with !!

Hi Chris and Family plus 8bs people! Nice to see the website is thriving Chris and Joel is still being a star with the server. Owl - very good - Keep it up! (Greeting to Usher if he is reading this too). How are the spiders? Do you have any room in the house nowadays to live with all the BBC stuff and your sons collection? (What doesn't Carol get on her page?) We are a BBC free household now but I have the emulator at work which confuses people when they want to use my machine when I'm not there. (Dual boot - Windows 98 or Win98 with BBC Emulator!) Yes - I'm still crazy and at Keele. 8-) Take care. Leigh....

A fantastic site which has brought back all the memories of Electron computing, and made me dig out my damp spider covered Electron from the garage. Thanks for the help replacing the keyboard... I really want to get a Master 128 now, but I am not sure if I dare to clutter the house with more. ElectrEm and BeebEm are helping to satify the desire, but its just not the same as the real thing! Keep up the good work. Gordon.

Yesterday I was happy to find a Electron on an open market (my dream machine in the 80's, but I didn't have the money at that time). Just bought an Xploder GB. Thought since I'd invested in TWO Gameboy advance consoles and all the trimmings, I may as well explore the inner workings of how the games actually work. Problem is it will probably take me WEEKS to figure out whats going on inside the console, since "MEMORY MAPS" and "SPRITES" and so on are a foreign language to me (thought "SPRITE" was a fizzy drink, [DOH!!]). Any news of when Gameboy ADVANCE XPLODER IS RELEASED??. E-mail me if poss. Regards. MF. PS, Damn good show on the 8bs site side of things, E*X*C*E*L*L*E*N*T*!*!. You built a very nice site. Since a long time I didnīt do anything with my beeb. But I never thought of doing it away -my first love!!! The reason to look on internet for BBC-things was that I longed to play the fabulous Hopper-game again (my tape-version is broken). So with Altavista I arrived at an enormous number of BBC-sites. This is one of the most elaborate I believe. It inspires methat so many people still spend time on their beloved, so: continue.

The best place to get free BBCs seems to be primary schools. My old school has two B's and Master 128, which don't work. I'm still hagglimg the principal to let me have the kaput Master and the HUGE software collection, but she tends to ignore my pleas. What she doesn't know is that they all only need new battery packs...

This is a wonderful site! I made a conscious decision to bring in our Master 128 from the garage about a week ago, it was our only computer till five years ago and it was the first we ever had. I was 2 years old in 1986 and have loved these machines all my life. Good work Chris, and thanks for all your help with the battery and the disk drive, you'll be hearing from me again! I use single board 6502 systems to teach students about 8bit microprocessors. In addition I have some BBC B machines. Do you have any examples of project to interface to the BBC/6502 either for data acquisition or control. Additionally to you have an EPROM list available.

Chris, Thanks for putting the advert on I have had a couple of enquires so far. Can you keep it on for a second week, I will let you know what has been sold, so you can remove them. About the demise of Acorn etc. Schools evening in the DES statistic report of 1992 said that ratio of pupils to micro was still far to low. Acorn's marketing policy was useless. The school where I used to work (Idependent) bought 15 Beebs to network, and 3 for the Science Dept. We had a head of computer Science. While Apple were introduced for CAD, and later Archimedes, and extra Teaching staff. I have just found out that they have gone to PC. Besides teaching staff, They have a Computer Manager, and 2 technician/trainers just to keep everything working, they have a lot more PC. I do not know how state schools could find that sort of money, so If the new marketing from dealers etc can get the market together could ther be a future for Beebs All the best Lorna

Cool site dude. Really great to see so much info and parts for sale on the net for such a great machine as the BBC is. I have 4 BBC model B's myself with drives and monitors and I love playing around on the old games and adventures. It is people like you that let us keep fresh in our minds all the great times we used to have in the early eighties, playing on the BBC. Keep up the great work, if this web site goes down, then we have all lost something special. Best wishes. Reece Young.

14 years ago I bought BBCBASIC(86) and did some programming for use in the factory I work with. Then Bill Gates took over. Now I started again to program some things in BBCBASIC and learned that I've forgotten a lot of things. Just curious I typed in BBCBASIC in a search engine on the web and was surprised how many people are still working with BBCBASIC and that BBCBASIC(86) is still available. I downloaded some programs and will look in the listings to find out some programming tips & tricks of the old days. Maybe you can give me some addresses with programming tips & tricks this would be welcome. Keep up the good work. p.s. My home page has nothing to do with BBCBASIC its simply another hobby of mine, Royal Enfield motorcycles. Hans Taverne

Hello,Chris, Long time no hear. You may remember supplying me with a keyboard for my BBC Master. I was damned lucky to get it, since the old one had a duff key. Anyway, the BBC Master in question was sent to me by my brother as a present last summer. He'd "decommissioned" it some years ago in his business. I'm anxious to find out what type it is, but have only the serial number to go on, which reads: 01-AMB15-0090511 Is there any chance you could identify the machine from this number? I'd be very grateful if you could. By the way, I'm writing a Tutor for BBC BASIC for the PC, and Richard Russell is posting it on his website. It's called "Practical BBC BASIC for the PC" and I'd be grateful for any comments/criticisms. Brilliant site!! Rekindled my interest in the machine in the corner of my attic. And it fired up instantly with no noisy fan. Having used Beebs in school and owning a master with Viglin lid I thought I knew a lot but this site has opened my eyes. There are still schools in Northumberland using BBCs. I'm keen to try preserving some of the software on PC for posterity but worried about infringing copyright. This is a sensitive issue for this county after a music infringement. Advice sought on this.

Hi, it's really wonderful to see that there are still people dedicated to the Beeb and actively supporting it. I've had a BBC Model B since 1984 (one of the few in Belgium) and I've used (mainly programming and "exploring", I am a software engineer by profession) it until about five years ago. Since then it's been in the cellar of my successive homes, although I've always continued searching for / buying hardware, software and documentation for it. I plan to unpack it in a few months' time, when I'll (hopefully) have finished refurbishing the house. I hope to become more actively involved in the BBC "scene" then. Yours sincerely SdW

Aaah, nice to see someone appreciates what a fine piece of work the BBC range was (is). I've actually still got mine, though it's been relegated to the loft because the damn thing started giving me electric shocks. Plus the lithium battery ran out after all these years, which means configuring it every time I want to use it! Anyway, it's still useful for playing my favourites, such as Citadel and Stryker's Run among others, which beat a lot of today's games hands down in my opinion. Keep up the good work, and keep the BBC alive!

I now have a Tiny PC as well as a BBC and 512 Master. I am busily transferring 5.25 Master 512 discs onto PC 3.5 discs with some success. I wonder if you still have supplies of 5.25 second hand discs at £5 for 40. I`m also wondering if you have any 512 tube add-ons to convert another Master 128 into a Master 512, and if so at what price. This is my first attempt at sending an E-Mail message. Best wishes to you Chris.

Hiya, I've just had a little browse through you site, Great stuff! I am also a BBC user, and I'm trying to collect together just about anything useful to me, as well as some rarities (eg Laserdisc player). I am keen on the idea of using Beeb's with modern pieces of equipment ie. modems, cd roms, large hard drives, and also to connect with bulletin boards (If any exist!) with a BBC. I currently have a growing collection of kit, such as BBC B, 2 masters (1 with 512 186 board fitted), an EPROM programmer, An Electron, A double 5 1/4" disk drive whish sits over the top of the master and looks lovely, loads of ROMS, a ROM expansion board, tons of manuals, and a drawerful of original games on cassettes which I could never hope to play all of them as I would be on for weeks loading them in! I had a look through your for sale section, so expect an order from me soon! Is 8BS for members only? How do I join? Is there a printed magazine? Or software on disc? Feel free to E-mail me anytime on Shaun@Toppop.freeserve.co.uk Looking forward hearing from you! Shaun Marsh

Hello there, I'm trying to source a copy of Thrust for my flatmate who is into alternative landscapes. The irony is that those were the days when I paid for all my software but my loft is a challenge that has beaten my so far. Any advice or solution would be more than appreciated, James

Its wonderful to find that there are others out there that still have an interest in BBCs. I still have my Atom, BBC B, Archimedes and associated hardware, let alone the 200+ disks of software, Rom images, utilities etc. I now work with PCs all day and seriously miss the good old BBC. Keep up the good work. All the best, Steve

You took a bit of finding again. You have worked fast with getting the items on the site. I managed to fix Doom. Somehow it had all by itself altered its screen resolution in advanced settings. You see, these bloody thing ARE alive. It was nice to see you again. Keep up the good work for the dear old BBC.

After being a fan of the BBC B throughout the 80`s, I was extreamly impressed to find that followers of the 8 bits still exist. Although I no longer have my BBC, I remember it fondly and spent many an hour messing about with it. Your superb web site has brought back many fond memories and as a result I am know seriously considering buying another to `hobby` about with. An altogher great web page. Keep up the good work as there must still be many of us `oldies` left out there that will always remember the 8 bits as the best there ever was!

Nice site. Especially like the marketplace/buying and selling bits. I have just got hold of a mint condition (original packaging, etc.) Electron, but need a power supply for it. How can I get one? Are there any good alternatives to the official one? In fact, are there any sources for Electron-ica anywhere? All I can really find is footnotes about it on BBC pages and I would like more.

Sorting out some old, unused hardware at school and found the BBC, very sentimental about this, we both go back a long way! searched the internet for help on connecting a monitor to it and found this website. Fantastic, I can now get the BBC up and running to show the children control and a bit of history !

Well, I don't know. It all started a few weeks ago, playing around with MAME and the emulators of the old Arcades. Now, I've got round to hunting down BBC Basic and odd associated bits 'n' pieces and I find this amazing active group of people driving on with all those things that started the home computing revolution. It's most welcome and I'm having great fun trying to get my old BBS running (The Animation Station) with pcBBC. Regards, Dug.

Great Site! There's so much nostelgia here it makes we wish I'd never sold my BBC all those years ago. Hopefully I'll be able to get my BBC Emulator (BeebIt for RISC OS) as close as possible to the real thing. The information on these pages have helped a lot. Thanks.

Great site! I'm inspired to dig around in my basement & find that old Atom and Model B. Hope my joystick (specially modified for Elite) is still where I left it 15 yrs ago. Cheers, Derek.

Dear Chris, I was so sorry that you stopped the magazine, but fully understand why. After that I realised that I had to get into the PC world, but I still have my Master set up, just in case! These things are very unfriendly. I have a lot of Wordwise texts on 5.25 disks, how can I read them on this machine? Perhaps I could pop over for a chat, making sure that I have a full tank of petrol, first!! Best wishes to you and your family. Peter
